To re-enable the typical, or faster, transfer mode for an affected device: Sometimes it is set to an outdated transfer mode called PIO (Up to 16MB/Sec) which is much slower than UDMA which starts from 16MB/sec and currently surpasses over 100Mb/sec. There could be several reasons for this to occur, most of them originate from hardware issues but some can be solved by modifying the motherboard hard drive controller transfer rate.
